Noa (Achinoam Nini) will soon premiere a series of songs inspired by the prayers of  "Kabbalat Shabbat" - the Welcoming of the Sabbath -  The impetus for this new spiritual repertoire  was a request by her long time friend and colleague, Dr. Gady Levy, who spearheads the vibrant programming at New York's Streiker Center of Temple Emanuel. He suggested that she create musical interpretations for several of the weekly Shabbat prayers to present at Temple Emanuel's Friday Night Hub services several times in the coming year. Friday Night Hub is a weekly Shabbat gathering of young professionals  that often features special performances by internationally acclaimed Jewish artists. 

As Noa explains:  

"I integrated the original Hebrew prayer with lyrics of my own in both English and Hebrew and wrote new music to it all. I was very deeply inspired in the creative process, which filled me with emotions, as it connected me deeply to my early years as a Yeshiva student, and to the tumultuous, bittersweet, profound and transformative journey of evolution I have been on all my life, in search of my own, unique Jewish identity. 

 

The music and lyrics I wrote, together with the gifted Ruslan Sirota who is also the musical producer , reflect my Yemenite/Israeli/American roots, as well as the east-west crossroads and stylistic fluidity which characterize much of my  work. I have also instilled in the songs the values and ideals that are at the root of my 30 years of activism and the indefatigable quest for peace." 

 

Noa also mentioned that as she worked on her "Angels of Peace" project, she came to appreciate the memory and legacy of the legendary Debbie Friedman, our beloved American Jewish songstress whose songs are an everlasting of American Jewish communal identity.

Noa is eager to perform and teach her "Angels of Peace" songs as part of her future concerts and residencies and to deepen her dialogue with American Jewry.

 

Noa is available for performances in the United States during weeks adjacent to the three Friday Night Hub appearances in New York: November 13, 2026, January 8 and April 9, 2027.  She performs with Grammy winning pianist Ruslan Sirota.
