The Omer Avital Quintet is both an all-star group compiled of some of the leading jazz musicians on the world jazz scene, all of which are great composers, band leaders and in demand side-men, and at the same time, this is a group of friends who have been playing together in many different contexts for the past 15 years. Their almost telepathic sense of communication and sincere joyfulness makes their concerts a real uplifting experience.

The classic configuration of a jazz quintet on one hand, and the modern/global approach of leader/composer Omer Avital, who brings in to the mix his Arabic, North-African, Israeli and classical European musical influences on the other, is what separates this group and makes it unique, with an instantly recognizable musical voice. Omer Avital Quintet in Italy

In Spring 2012 the Omer Avital Quintet will be touring their forthcoming SUITE OF THE EAST album release on the ANZIC label, featuring their exceptional compositional skills presenting Omer's unique multi-cultural brew of highly spirited jazz, Middle-Eastern and North African sounds.

This release follows their two recent releases - OMER AVITAL QUINTET - Live at Smalls (Smalls live records, 2010), and FREE FOREVER - Live in Italy (Smalls records 2011). The Quintet will be touring the US and Canada to support the new album with Mr. Avital's longtime brothers in arms: Avishai Cohen on trumpet, Joel Frahm on saxophone, Johanthan Blake on drums and pianist Jason Lindner.
