Bringing this magical evening to stage is Danny Maseng, a master storyteller and singer who has been wowing audiences with his critically acclaimed "Wasting Time with Harry Davidowitz" for nearly a decade. This all new intimate look at the mystical world of Hasidic songs and tales, will combine the rich heritage of the past with the powerful, poignant and insightful teachings of some of the greatest sages of an era gone by. From simple "niggunim" (melodies) to some of the most hauntingly beautiful music in the Jewish tradition; from the joyful and ecstatic to the mellifluous and heartbreaking, Danny weaves this unforgettable music together with the eternal words from the wise.
Born in Israel to American parents, Danny first came to the United States in 1971 to star on Broadway in 'Only Fools are Sad.' A playwright, actor, singer and composer, Danny has served as Evaluator of New American Plays/Opera-Musical Theater for the National Endowment for the Arts. He has been the featured guest soloist of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and has been hailed as one of "Israel 's Greatest Singers." Danny is currently the Director of the Spielberg Fellowships for The Foundation for Jewish Camping, Inc. as well as the artistic director of The Brandeis-Bardin Institute in California, a center for Jewish culture and learning.
In addition to frequent guest-starring roles on 'Law & Order' and its many spin-offs, Danny's TV appearances include such shows as 'Deadline,' 'Prince Street,' and 'One Life to Live.' Danny is also the voice behind many shows and commercials, including 'Wild Discovery,' 'The Life of Muhammad Ali,' 'Hewlett Packard,' and 'American Express.'
A renowned composer and singer, Danny has recorded over 10 albums. He has become one of the most popular and respected composers of contemporary Liturgical and Synagogue music. Danny's long awaited Broadway musical "Let there Be Light" is currently in production, capping a career that has spanned classical, folk, rock, and pop.
