Kids
& Yiddish:
THE MISHEGAS CONTINUES!
Don't
miss the sixth edition of Folksbiene's highly acclaimed holiday
show for families "Kids & Yiddish: The Mishegas Continues!" As in
recent years, the bi-lingual musical adventure introduces a new
theme, a new crop of characters and a raft of new satirical songs
to go with its greatest hits.
Written
by Joanne Borts, Michael Fox and Zalmen Mlotek, directed by Borts
with musical direction by Mlotek, "Kids & Yiddish: The Mishegas
Continues!" gleefully mixes Jewish folk traditions with popular
culture. The resulting madcap musical satire strives to make Yiddish
broadly accessible in a multi-cultural city. This year's cast of
five young actor/musicians (ages 9 to 18) and three adult actor/musicians
portray a band of intrepid linguists who set out to figure out the
words "continuation" and "connection". In the course of an incredible
cultural journey they discover that the distinct yet related concepts
retain a multitude of meanings. |
