CHIQUITA GREEN
Vocalist/Songwriter Chiquita Green's new release "The Sandmouth/Mercy Project" is creating major buzz everywhere it's heard. That Green/ Grigsby team did it once again. Songwriter/ Producer Douglas Grigsby lll is really making a major mark in the Gospel Arena!! This CD was created as a token of love, because the proceeds are being used to help save the lives of starving and dying children in Africa. WOW!!! God is truely awesome, and so is this CD! Bananaland Grooves Music is home to Ms. Green and has been for many hundreds of songs. Just ask Multi Platinum writer/producer Bobby Eli who she recently has reconnected with writing and working on a phenomenal Gospel project. Studio E has kept her busy working on various CD projects from Denise Williams ("Love Neicy Style"), The Three Tenors Of Philadelphia ("All The Way From Philadelphia"), George Clinton's new project (this one's going to take the world by storm)!!! which is soon to be released, and many others.
Chiquita won big at the 2006 ESMA Gospel Awards for her CD project "Let Go". She won for Best Urban Soul Album, Best Jazz Performance (Full Circle) and was nominated for Best Female Vocalist. She will soon be touring Europe once again with the spirited jazzy gospel ensemble "Agape" or "New Spirit", headed by Minister Carol Frazier. She is currently putting the final touches on her new Jazzpel CD project (Jazz, Brazilian and Gospel Mix). It consists of originals and revised jazz standards. Chiquita's active career has taken her across the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. "Let Go", a seventeen song anthology of soothing heartfelt inspirational ballads and soul stirring up-tempo tunes was written and co-produced with Philly's veteran music magnate Douglas Grigsby lll. The electrifying title cut "Let Go" was recorded at the New Covenant Church of Philadelphia and features the New Covenant Sanctuary Choir of which Chiquita is a member.
She continues to work, write and record with various artists. Her already extensive catalog of originals keeps on expanding. Prior to working for "God's Kingdom", she worked throughout Europe and the Middle East with her jazz quartet "Chiquita and The Berdisch Band" while working and living in New York. She is quite familiar and at home with the concert stage. From 1990 to 1995 Ms. Green joined forces with Atlantic Records "Change", formerly headed by the late Luther Vandross, working in the US and at major concert venues throughout Europe. While residing between Philadelphia and Los Angeles, Chiquita has performed and recorded with the late Barry White, worked with Patti Labelle and numerous other artists. She has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, The United Negro College Fund, Unicef and NAACP Telethons. From voice-over work to hair commercials to writing books, her work has been awarded Billboard recognition. She continues working in her "wonderful field of music" and is excited to share her gifts to heal the hearts of the world!
